What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that uses pressure points on the hands and feet to encourage relaxation. At Willow Massage Centre we offer foot reflexology.

Reflexology is a practice thought to date back thousands of years, with roots in ancient China, and it is still used around the world today. Please note that your reflexologist cannot diagnose or treat medical conditions, and reflexology does not replace medical care.

As a Massage Therapist I treat people for a range of problems. When I meet people who are having a difficult time emotionally I often recommend reflexology. Even if it is only part of their treatment time.  It is a very deeply relaxing treatment.  Sometimes our clients simply need to ‘switch off, and switch back on again

Tailored to You, Priced by Time

At Willow, you pay for the time, and we work on what you need. We take a holistic approach and listen, so your therapist will start with a short consultation about how you feel and what you want from your session, and can tailor the treatment within your booked time, for example by combining reflexology with massage. Prices are shown in our online booking system.

Possible Benefits of Reflexology

As a Massage Therapist I treat people for a range of difficulties.
When I meet people who are having a difficult time emotionally I often recommend reflexology.

Even if it is only part of their treatment time.  It is a very deeply relaxing treatment.  Sometimes our clients simply need to ‘switch off, and switch back on again

Reflexology may help you feel more relaxed, but it does not diagnose or treat medical conditions and does not replace medical care. Please tell your therapist about any health conditions before your session.

Who Reflexology Suits

Reflexology is suitable for many people, from children and adults to those receiving palliative care, with a trained therapist. Reflexology is tailored to the client’s needs. It can be a full body relaxation treatment, or focused on areas of concern.

If you are using reflexology alongside treatment for an existing condition, please give your therapist as many details as possible.

  • Feeling stressed, anxious or low in mood and wanting to relax.
  • Wanting a relaxing treatment alongside other healthcare.
  • Often having tired or achy feet.
  • Finding it hard to switch off and unwind in the evening.
  • Wanting to relax during times of hormonal change, such as menopause or after pregnancy.

When to Speak to Us First

  • Have open wounds on their feet and hands, or skin conditions such as verruca’s, athletes foot and eczema.

  • Showing fever, flu or cold symptoms, which can be amplified by therapies.

  • Anyone suffering from the effects of alcohol.

Not sure which treatment suits you? Call us on 02890 504695 and we will help you choose.

Reflexology FAQs

Your therapist will begin with a health assessment, which will cover your medical history and any current conditions.

Reflexology is based on the belief that specific points on the feet correspond to other parts of the body, and the treatment can be focused on areas of concern.

Your therapist will begin with massage to warm up the area, before applying light pressure to these points.

Reflexology is one of our most relaxing treatments and a lovely way to help you unwind and de-stress. You may also feel energised or notice slightly heightened emotions. Most importantly, relaxed!

No, reflexology is not a painful treatment.  However please do communicate with your therapist.

As discomfort during your treatment may be an indicator that a particular area needs more attention.

We get asked this a lot actually.  We have so many nerve endings and receptors in our feet that they can feel ticklish when people touch them unexpectedly.

However, as there is a purpose to reflexology it should not make you feel ticklish.

Again, please communicate with your therapist if you have ticklish feet, as there are methods to prevent you feel the need to wriggle away.  I.e. firmer, more obvious movements.

Our standard reflexology treatment is 60 minutes. You can also book half reflexology and half massage.

You pay for the time you book. A 60 minute reflexology treatment is £55. Half reflexology half massage, reflexology with hot stones and pregnancy reflexology are also £55, and fertility reflexology is £50.

Yes. We listen and we work on what you need. If you tell us more at your consultation, we can suggest tailoring the treatment to suit you within the time you have booked, for example by combining reflexology with massage. The exceptions are hot stone and aromatherapy massage, where we prepare the room in advance, so you receive the treatment you book.

Book online through our booking system or call 02890 504695 for same day appointments. We are at 90 Castlereagh Road, East Belfast.
